Favorite part of teaching yoga?

That moment when students have just finished a really challenging sequence and you hear a sigh of “ahhhh.” It’s filled with exhaustion, relief, accomplishment, and contentment, and it is so inspiring.

Where did you grow up?

Asheville, NC.

Favorite book?

To Kill a Mockingbird.

Favorite piece of art?

Any choreography by Alvin Ailey.

What inspires you?

Dance, my family, social justice, sunshine.

Favorite food?

Chocolate.

Favorite restaurant in DC/VA/MD?

Cusbah.

Dream vacation or favorite vacation you’ve ever been on?

I have too many dream vacations to choose from! Thailand, Egypt, Brazil, the list goes on. I love visiting my extended family in Turkey  – I could eat Turkish food for every meal.

Favorite yoga pose and why?

Right now, handstand! It’s still very much a work in progress, and I’m excited by that challenge every day. I love the feeling of weightlessness when the hips stack over the shoulders.
