As a yoga teacher would you like to learn more about the art of physical and energetic assisting of your yoga students?
Physical assists are a way to aid your students in finding better structural alignment in their body. Energetic assists can help students to focus on the present moment, calm their nervous system, to move energy through their system. Quality physical and energetic assisting of yoga students requires complex skills including knowledge of anatomy, practice “seeing” structural alignment, clear intention and a lot of practice.
Choose your own assists and practice adjusting your touch to accommodate different bodies. Either begin to develop or deepen your development of your own style of assisting that is in line with your intention for assisting. We’ll also discuss details of proper hand placement, some techniques for avoiding uncomfortable situations, and how to give effective feedback to a yoga teacher on their assisting.
• Practice following students in their flow and deepening their experience of each pose in Vinyasa Step Backs, Surya Namaskar A and B.
• Learn and practice techniques for aligning people in their standing and balancing poses by looking first, encouraging alignment gently, then deepening the experience. Poses to be covered will be chosen by you and practiced with partners.
• Practice using oils, gels, and aromatherapy to encourage grounding, relaxation and joy in seated postures and finishing poses. Poses to be covered will be chosen by you and practices with partners.
