I’ve tried various workouts and different styles of yoga throughout the years, and I always came back to Vinyasa but was never consistent about it. In 2010 I was in a really difficult place; in desperation and nearing a meltdown, I looked for a nearby yoga studio on Yelp. Tranquil Space Arlington was the highest rated studio in the area so I bought a new Student Pass and was instantly hooked. I made a commitment to my yoga practice and it has served me well over the years.
I usually walk through the door at TSA strung out from a long day, with my mind full of what is next on my impossibly long To Do list. What keeps me coming back to my mat is a craving for yoga – for the mental, spiritual, and physical benefits – it calms my mind, and soothes my body and soul. As a type A control freak, it is wonderful to have an hour where I don’t have to be “on,” and where I am not expected to do anything other than what my body is telling me it needs.
I love the little TS-isms and rituals that set my studio (yes, I refer to TS as “mine”) apart from others: hearing the announcements; the decadent hands-on assists; the spritz of lavender during savasana; how you are welcome to nab an Inspiration, hair tie, or cookie in the adorably shabby chic boutique lobby. I truly look forward to certain workshops like celebrating the Winter or Summer Solstice with 108 Sun Salutations, as well as the 21 Day Challenges, and other amazing events, and just being a part of the TS cOMmunity!
