Favorite part of teaching yoga?
My favorite part of teaching yoga is seeing students leave class peaceful and happy, which is always my goal. A close second is helping someone have that “a-ha!” moment in a pose when everything clicks and they really just get it.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Wisconsin just south of Milwaukee and in Southern California about 45 miles east of Los Angeles.
The Muppet Christmas Carol, and I’m not ashamed of that at all.
Right now it’s “no mud, no lotus.”
Favorite restaurant in DC/VA/MD?
Not fancy at all, but I love District Taco. Who doesn’t love a good breakfast taco?
Dream vacation or favorite vacation you’ve ever been on?
Dublin, Ireland. It was the first vacation I planned on a whim and took alone, and Ireland is magnificent. It doesn’t hurt that I capped off the five-day trip with a Sunday morning whiskey tasting at the Jameson factory.
Favorite yoga pose and why?
It’s a toss-up between bound headstand (sirsasana) and legs up the wall (viparita karani). I like to be upside down.
Christmas. It’s the twinkling lights that get me.
If you could be one animal, what would you be and why?
I want to trade places with my cat. She just snoozes all day waiting for belly rubs and kibble. That’s the life!
