Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an 8 week class modeled on the work of renowned author and teacher, Jon Kabat-Zinn. It is a very experiential program, deliberately intense to begin the amazing work of altering neural pathways-literally changing your mind! Through the practices of yoga, yoga nidra, and various meditation practices, we set the stage for a lifelong path of responding, rather than reacting to life’s events-effectively learning to meet life as it is. We’ll meet for 2 ½ hours each week and there will be daily homework for each participant, highly recommended to get the most out of this intense, yet transformative experience.

Sunday afternoons from 12:30pm – 3:00pm 9/7/14 through 11/9/14 (no class on 9/21/14) 6-hour silent retreat on Sunday, November 2, 11:00-5:00pm
Together we will learn that we don’t have to change what we’re thinking, but we can always change our relationship to what is already so, crafting a more skillful response to the ordinary and extraordinary stresses of life.
We’ll practice working with breath, re-inhabiting the body through the practices of body scan,yoga and yoga nidra, and learning to work with the mind by practicing formal sitting meditation and loving kindness meditation in class each week; there are homework assignments weekly including guided CDs for home practice to enhance our class work. We practice everything together in class, but if you wish for your life to really change, you are invited to take this work seriously, do the homework as offered and really let it infiltrate all parts of your life.
