Favorite part of yoga?
My favorite part of yoga is the feeling that you have after a class that you weren’t sure beforehand that you would make it to/through. Whenever I am feeling low energy or like my schedule is tight, I always try to push myself to go to class anyway, because I know that I will have that wonderful, light feeling after class.
Where did you grow up?
Fairport, NY (in western NY, near Rochester). It is not a huge town but a couple of other TSD people are from the same place!
What are your top 3 hobbies?
If I don’t count yoga, my top three are reading, hiking, and cooking/eating.
What inspires you?
People who put fear aside and follow their passions when it comes to how they want to live their lives and build their careers.
Smelly cheeses. If they start to melt a little when they sit out then they are perfect.
Favorite restaurant in DC/VA/MD?
Cork on 14th Street (see favorite food above). It’s close to home and the food is always consistently tasty and not too fussy.
Dream vacation or favorite vacation you’ve ever been on?
My favorite vacation was a six-week trip to Africa that my now-husband and I took after we graduated from college and before we started our “real lives” at nine-to-five jobs. We visited Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and South Africa. We got to on safari and diving, visit vibrant cities, meet a lot of new people, and get outside of our comfort zones. We also learned how easy it was for us to spend six uninterrupted weeks together.
Favorite yoga pose and why?
I love pigeon pose because there is such a noticeable difference in how my hips feel when it is over. I also love legs up the wall.
If you could be one animal, what would you be and why?
