Favorite part of yoga?
I love that moment in a yoga class where you can feel your spine lengthening, your breath is flowing, and you know in your heart, body, and mind that you have found your edge or your “perfect pose.” It’s like everything just clicks and you know you’ve found the perfect balance between effort and ease which allows you to surrender and hold the pose gracefully.
Where did you grow up?
I’m a local and proud of it, Potomac, Maryland
Right now, it’s the book Lost at School which directly related to my work as a school counselor. But, my favorite yoga book is Living your Yoga by Judith Lasater. It’s a classic introductory book that I read during TT1 but I find myself coming back to it over and over again as I practice and teach.
Ace Venture Pet Detective (strange, but true!)
“If you always do what you always did, you’ll always get what you always got.” AND since I can’t really just pick one, “What if the Hokey Pokey is really what it’s all about?”
Favorite restaurant in DC/VA/MD?
Yuraku. Best known sushi secret in Germantown, Maryland! One taste and you’re hooked!
Dream vacation or favorite vacation you’ve ever been on?
Maui, Hawaii is my favorite destination in the world. My family owns a condo there so my husband and I visit at least every year. I’ve traveled a lot in this world (even to FIJI), but something about Maui is simply magical. It’s the perfect balance between mountains, rainforest, tropics, and beaches. It’s a place I always dream about, and the place where I feel at home. I hope to live there someday.
Thanksgiving. For me, it’s just a time for family, friends, giving thanks, and appreciating all that we have that makes our lives rich and full.
Favorite album or artist?
One of my favorites is Tracy Chapman. No matter what mood I’m in, she always seems to fit.
