Dearest TSA cOMmunity,
As you may have already heard, after 2.5 years of eating, sleeping, and breathing Tranquil Space, I have decided to give up my position as Studio Director at TSA.
Although I have loved every minute of this role (except, maybe, when the roof sprung a bunch of leaks and the water cooler was perpetually broken…?), I’ve come to the realization that I can no longer give the studio the time, energy, and management attention that it needs. This chance to step back will also allow me more time and energy to focus on my art, my teaching, my blogging & writing, being the Teacher Director at Tranquil Space, and my other creative endeavors. It’s heart-breaking to give up this role that has defined me, guided me, and ultimately, been my life over the past few years, but I am working to practice what I preach, slow down, and add a little extra space back into my life.
The fabulous news is that one of our current team members, Alyson Latham, has been brought on board as our new Studio Manager at Tranquil Space Arlington. Even more exciting is the fact that the studio will now be open almost all day, every day, so if you’d like to stop by to shop, pick up your mat, or just hang out between classes, you can do so and Alyson will be there to greet you with a smile (and maybe some tea and cookies, if you’d like!).
Similarly, the wonderful Gretchen Straczewski, who has been on board as our Assistant Manager for quite some time, will be taking on more responsibility as the Arlington Operations Manager. I have no doubt that a management team made up of these two women will keep the studio running much more smoothly than I ever did, and I’m excited to continue to be a part of such an amazing cOMmunity as a teacher.
My Director role will officially end at the end of May, so come June, please be sure to say hello to Alyson and Gretchen if you’re at the studio during the day. All inquiries and needs can also be directed to Alyson starting next month, and she can be reached at email@example.com. You can learn more about each of these lovely ladies below.
Thanks for making the past few years managing TSA so fabulous! I look forward to practicing next to you on the mat or seeing you in one of my classes.
I walked into Tranquil Space for the first time about a year ago, looking for a yoga home and a place to relax and take breaks from my busy life as a PhD student, but I found so much more. I soon began working at the front desk and continuously became more involved in the Tranquil Space cOMmunity. Tranquil Space offers such a positive environment with genuine people, allowing me to recharge and get away from it all; it is one of my favorite places to be.
I have a Bachelors Degree in Business Management and a Masters Degree in Human Resource Management. I love to travel and studied abroad in both Belgium in Ireland. Originally from Maryland, I am an avid supporter of my Baltimore sports teams! I love everything about Tranquil Space and cannot wait to start my role as Studio Manager at TSA!
My first Tranquil Space experience was with a TS teacher training graduate, Kendra Knudsen, at Rock Creek Yoga in Rockville, MD, way back in 2004. I quickly found out that everything I loved about her teaching came from Tranquil Space I just had to try it. I first visited the TS Bethesda location when they were still in the church, followed by my first TS Dupont class with Anne Thiel at the P Street studio. When I moved to Virginia in 2007, I was delighted to come on board as an SA at TS Arlington location. I have always enjoyed working for Tranquil Space and am very grateful that you have all welcomed me back after taking maternity leave on two separate occassions!
When I am not at the studio cleaning out closets and pulling weeds, you can find me at home on my laptop, ordering water cooler filters or toilet paper for the studio, or playing with my two girls, Annie (3.5) and Erin (4 months). Expect to see a lot of the three Straczewski women at TSA this summer when school is out!
Thanks for making TSA such a fabulous cOMmunity.
