We’re honored to be yogis-of-the-month (co-yogis, as it were) at Tranquil Space. We feel grateful to be a part of this wonderful community.
We started coming to Tranquil Space a little more than a year ago on the recommendation of friends during a challenging time in our lives. We came for the rigorous classes and for a little peace of mind; we stayed because of the good it brought us. In retrospect, it seems appropriate that we turned to yoga, since the word yoga is said to mean “to join” or “to unite.” How could we not want to join such a welcoming, creative, and committed group of people? How could we not be moved, in every sense, by a practice involving thoughts “full of love”? How could we not want to “carry its benefits into the world”?
After a hard or harried day, it almost seems like a stroke of good luck to walk into the Dupont studio, where Marq or Laarni or Linda might be there to greet us. (Or harass us, it’s true.) How fortunate are we to study with such gifted teachers as Kimberly, Kevin, Dibora, Melissa, Christine, and Siobhan? On many days we have been surprised to discover that the antidote to all of the stress and anxiety and hustle and bustle has been to “Let / Go.” And sometimes, in the Earth Studio, standing in Dancer Pose, or rising into Warrior I, our focus might drift to the wall, where a single word of the Tranquil Space dedication can remind us what we need to overcome (“OBSTACLES”), or what we should focus our energies on (“LOVE”), or perhaps what it is most critical for us to do (“BE”).
Thank you, Tranquil Space. We’re lucky to have you.
