Teacher Feature: Suzie Wnek

Favorite part of teaching yoga?
Easily, it’s that moment when a student “gets” something he/she was struggling with previously. It’s so inspiring!
Where did you grow up?
Silver Spring, MD
Favorite piece of art?
I love to spend time in the room of Calder mobiles at the Hirshhorn Museum. Every breath of air changes the art by creating movement.

Favorite movie?
My all-time favorite move is Better Off Dead with John Cusack. A great reminder not to take anything too seriously.
What inspires you?
Being around people who are open, curious, unafraid and inclusive.
Favorite food?
Ice cream.
Favorite quote?
I was deeply impacted by the loss of Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch, MCA. One of his quotes: “I think every person has the ability to effect change…Every one of us affects the world constantly through our actions…through our every thought, our every word, the way we interact with other people, we are constantly affecting the world. ”
Favorite yoga pose and why?
Half moon pose. I love the feeling of energy coursing from finger tip to toes, the extension, the lightness, the poise and balance. I feel like I’m flying.
Favorite album or artist?
Murmur by R.E.M.
