This mid-month feature is to meet one of our Tranquil Space Members!
I am a native New Englander who moved to Washington, DC ten years ago. I joined Tranquil Space one year ago to fulfill a new year’s resolution to expand my home practice. Although I was disciplined about practicing yoga at home, I was beginning to feel that I was not challenging myself. My favorite poses are Ardha Chandrasana (Half-Moon), Virabhadrasana II (Warrior II), and Vrksasana (Tree). The poses that I tend to avoid are Ukatasana (Chair) and Paripurna Navasana (Boat). I am the Director of Admissions at Capitol Hill Day School and, although sometimes stressful, what I love most about my job is that I get to play regularly with 4 and 5 year olds. My hobbies are walking, cuddling with my cat Petunia, reading, traveling, and rooting for the Red Sox. The two bravest, or one could say craziest, things I’ve ever done are swim with piranhas in Ecuador and go para-sailing off a mountain in Switzerland.
