Class sizes and mat shifts

Starting tonight you’ll notice a subtle shift in class layout at our Dupont Circle studio that allows for better spacing and a more comfortable practice.

We’ve always tried to find balance between trying to get yogis into our popular classes and comfort level within the classes themselves. For a few years, we’ve been working with 27 mat spaces in a traditional grid. After mulling over some of your comments in our recent student survey, we came up with a new idea to make our classes flow a little better:
Here you’ll notice the new Bamboo studio configuration (which also happens to mirror Sky studio’s new pattern). We’ve reduced class size by 2 mats and we’ve staggered each row. With this new configuration we think we’ve found better balance and spacing for practices in our more popular classes.
The downside is probably pretty obvious: we cannot accommodate as many yogis as we have ’til now. We highly recommend reserving your spot ahead of time to ensure you have a slot in class. We will continue to leave a few spots available for drop-ins, as usual.
Earth studio will get the same staggering treatment later this week. Let us know what you think!

Anonymous said…Thank you thank you thank you thank you! I almost got kicked in the head during a crowded Yoga 2 class on Tuesday during Warrior 3, and that’s not the first time it’s happened. Hopefully this will help!
