Have you been considering a spa treatment to ease any body aches or just for a little self-care? Amy Detgen is here to help demystify a few of our most common spa treatments.

I became interested in massage through being fascinated by the mind-body connection and wanting to help others find relaxation from busy, hectic lives. My goal is to work with each client to determine what they’re looking for in a session and then to draw on my training to provide that.

I’m a licensed and nationally certified massage therapist and was trained in Swedish and deep tissue massage at the Potomac Massage Training Institute.

  • Swedish massage involves slow, soothing strokes that improve circulation and help promote relaxation.
  • Deep tissue massage is wonderful for any muscle tightness or knots. I work slowly with the muscle tissue to help alleviate soreness and repair injuries.

Since graduating, I have been trained in Reiki.

  • Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is performed with the client fully clothed and involves hand placements on or over specific points on the body.

I also love to work with pregnant women and am a certified Nurturing the Mother Pregnancy Massage therapist.

  • Prenatal massage can give women the much-needed rest and care that their bodies need and can help alleviate discomfort such as lower back tightness or swelling.

No matter the modality, massage is restorative, calming and beneficial for body and mind. A perfect complement to a yoga practice or just busy, everyday life.
