Welcome to my first post on the Tranquil Space blog. I’m a voracious reader and since coming to yoga and Tranquil Space have been reading yoga books for pleasure and to enhance my practice.
A friend of mine recommended Rolf Gates’ Meditations from the Mat: Daily Reflections on the Path of Yoga
to enhance my life and my practice. The book contains chapters on the 8 limbs of yoga and a daily meditation for each particular limb. When I need more concentration in my life I head to the Dharana
section and the accompanying daily meditations. When I’m feeling strong and balanced in my physical practice I gain insight from the Asana
Each daily meditation is prefaced by a quote from varied sources, such as the Yoga Sutras, Hooke, the Bible, and Einstein. The analogy of stepping on the daily mat of life is prevalent in each meditation. I suggest this book should be on the shelf of all yogis and for any one who wants to bring more inner self awareness to their life.
